In the latest newsletter of ICARUS (International Centre for archival research) I was allowed to present a small part of my maternal family history. On the subject of house and farm research, I described the path of the Schnegl/Schne(c)kl family over generations across the Waldviertel (period ca. 1649 and 1781)

In 1781 my great-great-great-grandfather Sebastian Schnegl married the 30 year old Anna Maria Kimayr, whose family were farmers in Loitzenreith 5 in the parish of Martinsberg. Since this marriage, the house in Loitzenreith 5 has been continuously owned by the Schneckl family.
